-Pixelation Concepts- Chapter 2 : Tackling Robotics & Scales by LeeYiankun (May 16, 2004) (version 2.8) From now on, I'll dictate these as golden rules. 1- Always establish the Plane + The XYZ line for reference first. Why? Well, it makes Isometric pictures much more easier. And it's a good practice, even in typical drawings. Since it makes you visualize space every time you draw. 2- BG shall always be 50% Gray. 50% Gray has no saturation, no light imbalance. And any color you put in is establish towards medium tone, which is good practice. The More centered your palette is, the more shades that is available to you. |

Case study 1: Iron Beast(Z3TD) Revision 03 Heavy Support Mobile Armor. Manufacturer: Zetre Corps, Lead Designer : Jun Hakman :: SKETCHING ::
Sketch, Sketch, Just let your imagination run wild at this point. Keep the shape your primary concern right now. Go into details if you want, but prepare to lose them as well. Almost all info you put here will be lost in the shading stage. |
:: SCALING ::
Now Let see what we've got, shall we? This Stage determines whether or not, Resizing is needed. If the height is too short, you might even have to bump things up even. Typical results of this is that you will often size down then up. But on a rare occasion, you may not even have to resize at all. And in this case, it is not needed. 3x the height of an average human should be enough for a gigantic robot, don't you agree? Anyway, you can see that even here, the Isomatric outlook holds out nicely. |

:: SHADING ::
As You can see This shading scheme goes very nicely with Machines. Just keep blocking until you finished. This should take about 30-50Minutes, if you're not sure about the design. |
:: CLEAN UP ::
The Clean-up process is relatively simple, but should be handled with full concentration. For every effort you put in, is rewarded in the end. I put a shadow layer down on the bottom of the Mech. Just that it has some space to stand on, once I removed the white plane layer. |

:: FINALIZING::
Add The Details you wanted, the little seams, the bolts, the ventelation , production paint number, ETC. You might even try adding dirt and rust to it (even if it's hard to recognized at this resolution). Keep adding & Tweaking until you're satisfied with the result. Some AA around the edges would give the pic more quality as well. And There you have it, the Mech you have built yourself, with out a kit. ^_^ |
